Our Collaborations
For E-Group, collaborative partnerships always mean close cooperation built on trust.
Our industrial and technology partners bring knowledge of current market needs and benchmarks to the collaboration, allowing us to work in a real industrial environment and share experiences from the latest implementations.
Our university partners play a fundamental role in the field of research and development. During innovative research and the development of our market products, we often face challenges that require significant academic scientific knowledge. In such cases, we can turn to our network of university connections, which extends beyond the Faculty of Informatics at ELTE University to numerous other prestigious institutions that warmly welcome us.
For a deep-tech technology company like E-Group, close collaboration with university centers of excellence provides direct access to highly knowledgeable experts whom we would otherwise have great difficulty reaching. These experts may not be available for advisory or consulting roles due to their various academic and research commitments. We also expect our university collaborations to inspire and guide us in the directions we study, to show us where we should seek implementable solutions, and to highlight new directions that theoretical knowledge and research indicate for future technologies.
E-Group has achieved significant results not only in the HealthTech, EnergyTech, and FinTech sectors but also in the GovTech domain. We work in fruitful cooperation with numerous public institutions and organizations.
One of E-Group’s important clients is NISZ, for which our solution includes the well-known client portal functionality. Additionally, our platform serves the needs of the Hungarian government’s GovCa system for citizen identification. Among our partners, we count institutions such as OEP (National Health Insurance Fund), Társadalombiztosítás (Social Insurance), BM (Ministry of Interior), Országos Mentőszolgálat (National Ambulance Service), Magyar Nemzeti Bank (Hungarian National Bank), and many others. We are also proud of our collaboration with Diákhitel Zrt., which is well-known among students.
Our Innovations
We have worked on various innovations in recent years, examining data and the information it holds from different perspectives specific to each industry, in order to convert it into knowledge.
Biometrics And Identification Solutions
Highlighting some of our recent successes, particularly in the fintech sector, we have achieved great results with biometric identification and transactional solutions.
These include approval of banking transactions based on facial expressions (such as a smile) and authentication using palm prints.
The implementation called PeasyPay aims to create a joint digital payment application with OTP Bank, Liberbank, AV Living Lab, and Ci3m, where biometric identification is sufficient for authorizing payments. This is an excellent solution for concert attendees or guests at a beach resort, for example.
We have made a wide range of customer identification, also known as KYC (know-your-customer), digital signature, and authentication services available to the public sector, complying with EU directives, using eIDAS services, encryption, and confidentiality factors. Our current customer portal solution was one of the pioneers in citizen identification within the European Union.
Data Science And Data Technology
In the field of healthcare technology, specifically healthtech, we have been involved in research that aims to improve quality patient care and bring us closer to developing new methods and therapies. Our innovative data lake solution, IHDL, developed in collaboration with the University of Pécs, combines the advantages of previous data warehouses and data lakes, creating a multidisciplinary research and analytical data network. Our exceptional database specialists have found solutions to many questions that even device manufacturers had not considered, such as the unique hybrid implementation of the SQL Server Big Data Cluster at PTE.
In a recently published scientific article, we developed a machine learning-based model for determining the prehospital stroke stage, which significantly simplifies patient examination and enables prompt and expert care.
Our drug repositioning platform, created using machine learning methods, has achieved breakthrough success in cancer treatment, and our newly patented drug is participating in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Data & Trust Lab
We coordinate our university collaborations through the E-Group Data & Trust lab. Under the guidance of an operational manager and multiple technical leaders, we conduct joint research on current industry and business challenges. The methodology and commitment applied here ensure success in our university collaborations.
Our common tasks include technology research and design, algorithm development, testing, proof-of-concept creation, validation, and market entry efforts.
Why The Data & Trust Lab?
Since its inception, E-Group has placed special emphasis on university collaborations. As early as 2001, we established our first research laboratory, which operates under similar frameworks to the present day.
We maintain excellent relationships with both domestic and international universities, providing opportunities for collaborating students, PhD researchers, and professors to work on real products and address tangible problems. We guide them towards achieving concrete outcomes, where they can see products being created firsthand, rather than merely focusing on methodology or theory.
Success Stories
Introducing Áron Szabó
Áron is one of those colleagues who encountered E-Group during their university years, and ever since, he has been captivated by the diverse research opportunities that the company offers. Today, Áron actively participates as a technical lead in the research activities of ELTE Faculty of Informatics in the field of Identity & Trust.
In 2001, Áron started exploring the opportunities presented by the emerging electronic signature legislation in collaboration with E-Group, at the research laboratory of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). As a member of the renowned university research group, he was involved in the logical design and testing of real products. He continued his work within the university, contributing to cryptography and public administration projects at the BME Information Technology Center, closely collaborating with E-Group in both fields.
In 2008, Áron joined the company and was given the opportunity to conduct in-depth research and learn about innovative technological solutions in exciting R&D projects that are now considered commonplace.
Some notable projects from that time include:
As a Nokia strategic partner, Áron had the opportunity to experiment with the first NFC-enabled phones and develop their chip card-based user identification for physical access control processes. NFC-enabled phones and their potential applications, such as eID and wallet applications, are now part of our everyday lives.
The project aimed at enhancing the communication security of distributed computing applications (seti@home) utilized technology that is similar to the control mechanisms used in modern cryptocurrency mining applications.
Áron’s team worked on morphological analysis, tokenization, indexing, and other linguistic analyses for early-stage document management systems, which laid the foundation for today’s NLP and NLU solutions.
He was among the first researchers to study the security vulnerabilities of graphical password applications, which are now familiar to every Android user (unlock patterns).
His career at the company has been steadily advancing, from developer to architect, then senior architect. Later, he became an IT security expert, and today he serves as the Head of Trust Business Unit, overseeing and coordinating systems that perform millions of authentications annually.
Outside of work, Áron is a proud father of three children. In his free time, he enjoys immersing himself in analytical and research work. Additionally, he has a fondness for complex board games such as “Terraforming Mars” and “Architects of the West Kingdom,” as well as collectible card games like “Hatalom Kártyái” and “Magic: The Gathering.”
